Riding on the unprecedented success of the world’s first K-wave Zone launch last year, Madame Tussauds Hong Kong today announced that following a hiatus from making appearances in Hong Kong, renowned Korean celebrity Lee Jong-suk has confirmed a whirlwind tour to Hong Kong on 22 January for the unveiling ceremony of his wax figure.

In spite of upcoming shootings for his new television drama, Lee has managed to squeeze time out of his busy schedule for the unveiling ceremony of the world’s first Lee Jong-suk wax figure. The appearance of this hardworking heartthrob will no doubt spur another Korean wave across Hong Kong.

Lee commented in excitement: “I’m extremely honoured to be invited by Madame Tussauds to produce a wax figure. The production team has flown to Seoul to take my measurements earlier on. Although the process lasted seven hours, the team remained ever so conscientious and patient. Their attitude has won my deep respect, and the wax figure’s successful completion is the result of nothing but teamwork. I’m very excited about my upcoming trip to Hong Kong, when I can finally witness the ‘birth’ of my very own wax figure and take selfies with ‘him’!”

Lee originally debuted as a fashion model at the young age of 16 years old, making him the youngest and most talked-about male model to debut at Seoul Collection. The young celebrity has been working hard on his acting career in recent years, and his leading roles in dramas such as I Can Hear Your Voice and Pinocchio have brought him numerous acclaims including Grime Award’s youngest-ever Best Male Actor and 2015 Korean Popular Culture and Arts Awards – Prime Minister’s Award.

Ms Kelly Mak, General Manager of Madame Tussauds Hong Kong, said: “Madame Tussauds Hong Kong has always been collecting visitor feedback via different channels to ensure our attraction’s development is tailored to their preferences. The Korean wave is undoubtedly surging, and we became aware that many visitors wanted to interact with the wax figure of Lee Jong-suk, who is immensely popular and truly one of the brightest stars of Korean showbiz today. His arrival at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong will definitely boost the celebrity factor of K-wave Zone and become the talk of the town.”

The wax figure of Lee Jong-suk will don a shocking pink suit and greet visitors with a dynamic pose – a combination that’s guaranteed to show off his perfect physique and impeccable style as a fashion model. In hopes of surprising his fans, Lee’s lips remain sealed regarding his styling for the wax figure unveiling ceremony.
