CaptionThe Regional Vine and Wine Chamber (RVWC) “Trakia”, a professional association working on behalf of its members and partners for the promotion of the European wine industry, led by MarkAnthony Chesner (4th from left), Project Manager, presented a selection of Bulgaria’s finest wines for the first time in Thailand at Bangkok Marriott Sukhumvit. Under an initiative to promote European wines to satisfy a growing demand in Thailand, RVWC showcased leading wines from the Thracian Lowlands region of Bulgaria.

The presentation was attended by VIP guests including Sombat Laohapongchana, Honorary Consul of Bulgaria in Thailand, Burin Nakcharoen, Chairman of Vivaldi Seasons Co., Ltd. and President of the Old England Students Association, Porapol Adireksarn, Advisor to the Minister of Tourism and Sports, and his wife Pakaorn (Tassanapan) Sirisukha, Chompol Serimont, Chulayuth Lochotinan, Kitichai Taechangamlert and Rancha Boribalburibhand.

Professional sommeliers from Bulgaria, leading wine makers and representatives of RVWC offered guests a chance to learn more about the exquisite qualities of Bulgarian wines, the production techniques and peculiarities of regional wine varieties. The presentation explained the origins of wine-making in the Thracian region, which dates back to the First century AD, the ancient history of oenology and the origins of Bulgarian folklore.

The main objective of the presentation, and RVWC’s wider on-going mission, is to secure a better position and familiarisation of wines from Bulgarian in Thailand through interaction with a range of target groups, including consumers aged from 25 to 60 years of age, wine experts and journalists, distributors, importers, wine institute representatives and restaurant and hotel managers. This project provides an integrated campaign which, after its completion, is designed to gain a foothold in this market and further establish lasting market positions and mutually beneficial relationships for wine industry stakeholders in Thailand and Bulgaria.
