Relais & Châteaux Celebrate 60th Anniversary with International Hotel School

To mark the 60th anniversary year of the Relais & Châteaux Association, the Africa & Indian Ocean Island Delegation recently held a competition with the International Hotel School in Cape Town.

Students on the Chef’s course created five exquisite anniversary cakes and Annie-Claude Bergonzoli along with the Editor of Food24, Caro de Waal were judges. Judging was based on presentation and actual taste.

Principal of the International Hotel School, Alan Lester and the Dean, Carolyn McDougal were also present. The winner, Leihla Evora took first prize for cake design and presentation, Brandon Olkers too first prize for taste and Brandon Voorn received third prize for overall design and taste.

The winners received a dinner at The Greenhouse at The Cellars-Hohenort Hotel, a member property of Relais & Châteaux, and 3rd prize was a copy of the acclaimed ’32 Inspirational Chefs’ book.
