In regards to the transportation of “electronic boards” known as hoverboards, segways (or mini-segways), airwheel, solowheel or balance wheel, LAN Airlines and TAM Airlines, part of LATAM Airlines Group, will follow the recommendations given by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), which is to prohibit the transportation of these units both as carry-on and checked baggage in order to ensure safety on flights. http://www.banyantree.com/en/To see the recommendations of the International Air Tranport Associatiaon (IATA), click here.

LAN and TAM regret the inconvenience this may cause and reaffirms their commitment to safety and operational protocols that seek to protect the well-being of passengers.

Such equipment, however, may be transported through LATAM Airlines Group’s cargo affiliates – LAN CARGO, TAM Cargo, Mas Air, and LAN CARGO Colombia – which has a fleet of specialised aircraft to transport these types of products. To transport these items as cargo, they should be taken to the Company’s cargo offices and must be unused, in their original packaging, and accompanied with supporting documentation detailing the content of lithium batteries and power in watt-hours (Wh).

LAN and TAM advise their passengers wishing to transport these devices to make proper arrangements well in advance. For more information, please visit LAN CARGO’s website for services within South America (excluding Brazil) and the United States, or TAM CARGO’s website for services within Brazil.
