Rendezvous Canada An Annual Run Down On Whats New In Travel In 2018

Canada will showcase its vast tourism resources at the 43rd edition of Rendezvous Canada (RVC) in May in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

More than 1800 global travel industry, sellers, buyers and media will converge on the popular east coast city to preview new products and re visit some of the iconic destinations, landmarks, history, culture and exhibits on offer at this popular destination.

Australia enjoys an ongoing love affair with Canada. Visitation figures are at their highest ever up by 12.6 per cent on 2016 with 375,395 Aussies making the trip and typically spending more and staying longer than any other foreign market.

It was a big year for Canada as it celebrated its 150th birthday with a record-breaking 20.8 million tourists from around the world, the highest number in Canadian history.

Rendezvous Canada reunites the many international tourism industry leaders gathered for a series of speed-dating-style appointments. International buyers seek the best-matched Canadian tourism sellers. The marketplace is held annually in Canada with a different hosting destination each year.

Australian travel agents will review the latest products and in some cases experience new tours on offer. Approximately 15 Australian tourism leaders are attending this year and they have represented Australia for at least the past decade.

RVC will return to Halifax after a 16 year absence and will take place in the newly opened Halifax Convention Centre. RVC will be the first market place to use this facility. An expanded and enhanced marketplace floor that spans two levels: Western Canada Marketplace and Eastern Canada Marketplace

Hugging the coastline of one of the largest natural harbours in the world, Halifax is a vibrant city that effortlessly blends seaport industry and modern architecture with diverse culture and historic landmarks.

Visitors will be treated to highlights on offer from gourmet food, rich and historic culture, memorable sights and friendly people. The event starts with a Welcome to Canada Reception at the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 on Sunday, 13 May and ends after the sixth round of appointments on Wednesday 16 May with some attractive pre and post familiarisations taking place for attendees.

The objectives of the marketplace are to facilitate connections and create long-lasting business relationships by providing focused engagement for attending buyer and seller delegates.  Highlights this year will include:

  • Return to Halifax following a 16-year absence.  RVC will be the first marketplace to use the newly opened Halifax Convention Centre
  • Introduction of the PMO Experience Suites, an immersive opportunity to showcase and discover; Manitoba, Saskatchewan, North West Territories , Yukon, and Nunavut
  • One-on-one appointments are now 11 minutes in length with 5 minutes transition time between appointments
  • A mobile app to schedule appointments
  • Tips to succeed at RVC based on advice from tourism leaders
  • An opportunity to celebrate Canadian culture through the stories and the diversity that defines us
  • A chance to get additional social media exposure by joining our online trivia
  • An insider’s perspective on wh who will cover thedo, see and experience in Halifax, directly from the host city Destination Halifax
