ResMed Unveils AirMini – The World’s Smallest CPAP for Sleep Apnoea

ResMed today announced the Australian availability of AirMini™, the world’s smallest CPAP machine and a game-changer for patients with sleep apnoea.

Achieving new heights in patient-centered innovation, AirMini packs ResMed’s clinically proven CPAP technology, comfort features and new, ease-of-use features, into a sleek, portable, pocket-sized device. The AirMini is available with ResMed’s proprietary AutoSet™, AutoSet for Her and CPAP functionality and offers an innovative, new waterless humidification system for patient comfort.

“The ResMed AirMini has redefined CPAP therapy – providing patients with peace of mind, knowing they can easily get ResMed-quality therapy wherever they are,” said Mick Farrell, ResMed CEO.

“CPAP is now more portable and accessible than ever before. I have been travelling all over the world with a prototype of the AirMini system, using AutoSet, humidification, and an AirFit™ P10 pillows mask, and it has changed my travel experience. I am so excited to see that this technology is now available to many millions of sleep apnoea patients,” he says.

AirMini weighs a mere 300 grams and measures just 13.6 x 8.4 x 5.2 cm, making it the smallest CPAP device on the market providing the ultimate portable and discreet sleep therapy solution.

In a recent ResMed survey, 65% of CPAP users said device size is the number one reason they don’t take their CPAP every time they travel, breaking the cycle of adherence and exposing them to sleep apnoea’s chronic effects: they stop breathing repeatedly throughout the night, unconsciously transitioning between moments of sleep suffocation and jolts of awakening to resume breathing. This may cause dangerous levels of daytime fatigue and increases the risk of other co-morbidities.

AirMini’s comfort features and innovative new technology make it ideal for use both at home and while travelling:

  • A phone app (iOS and Android) for patients to change comfort settings and track their own nightly usage data, a practice that’s shown to increase compliance and health outcomes
  • Portable and convenient waterless humidification to maximise comfort, capturing a patient’s exhaled heat and moisture with a HumidX™ humidifier and redelivering it to them
  • Compatibility with ResMed’s latest AirFit 20 series, and a special AirMini version of the award-winning AirFit P10 giving them a choice of full face, nasal and nasal pillows mask options to deliver sleep therapy wherever and however they sleep.

AirMini will be available to Australian sleep apnoea patients through their CPAP or Home Sleep Test provider at the recommended retail price of AU$2,100.
