Up to 80 of the world’s top food and wine influencers will dine from a ‘best of Australia’ menu prepared by multi-awarded chefs Neil Perry AM, Peter Gilmore and Ben Shewry – part of Tourism Australia’s much-anticipated ‘Invite the World to Dinner’ to be held in Tasmania in November.

The trio and their many ‘culinary’ awards have been tasked with creating Australia’s finest three course menu for the gala event, which will be attended by some of the most influential international food and wine writers, critics, chefs, personalities and celebrities on 14 November at MONA (the Museum of Old and New Art).

‘Invite the World to Dinner’ is part of Tourism Australia’s new global campaign ‘Restaurant Australia’ – the latest evolution of the global Tourism Australia campaign, There’s nothing like Australia.

The campaign will see exceptional food and wine experiences from around the country playing a starring role in converting the global appetite for Australia as a travel destination into more visits.

Tourism Australia Managing Director, John O’Sullivan, said Australia’s international VIP dinner guests were in for a treat and would get to taste the full diversity of the country’s culinary offering.

“Not only are Ben, Peter and Neil three of our country’s most awarded chefs, but we believe that their passion for Australia and Australian food and wine makes them ideally suited to be in charge of putting together a menu for such an illustrious international gathering,” Mr O’Sullivan said.

The 80 special guests, invited from Australia’s key international tourism markets, will gather together for the gala event after a four-day culinary journey around Australia, seeing each experiencing the best good and wine experiences around the country.

“This dinner is saying to the world here is Australian cuisine, we have amazing produce, diverse cultural influences and through our cooking we bring a certain spirit of openness, adventure and freedom,” said Peter Gilmore, Executive Chef of the multi awarded Quay Restaurant in Sydney.

“With outstanding produce and innovative ideas, our food and restaurants are truly world-class. What makes us unique here in Australia are the people, our produce and sense of place, and this will all come together on the night,” agreed Neil Perry AM, one of Australia’s leading and most influential chefs, and co-owner of seven award-winning restaurants throughout Australia.

“I’m really proud to represent Australia and have that responsibility. I’m so proud of our industry here – to me, it’s one of the most supportive and kindest that exists, and to be cooking with Peter and Neil, my close friends, is a dream come true,” said Ben Shewry, Head Chef at the world famous Attica Restaurant in Melbourne.
