“A ticket to La Soirée is an invitation to be part of the ultimate carnie family. The international line-up of circus, cabaret and burlesque artists has never been stronger.”

THE AGE, MELBOURNE

“For risqué humour and spectacular stunts, La Soirée remains the best ticket in town.”

THE TELEGRAPH, UK

Having firmly cemented their place as a cornerstone of the Opera House’s popular Summer at the House program, La Soirée will take over the Studio from January 8 and showcase the finest cabaret, burlesque and circus that has delighted audiences around the world.

After two hugely successful seasons at the Opera House, more than 60,000 Sydney-siders have shared a champagne with the La Soirée family of stars. Celebrating their tenth year as an ensemble, La Soirée has introduced Sydney audiences to the squeamishly bendy Captain Frodo, the rich baritone in lycra Le Gateau Chocolat, (in)famous “Bath Boy” David O’Mer, the stiff upper lips of The English Gents and the disappearing hanky of Ursula Martinez. Who knows what outrageous, sexy and hilarious artists will grace our shores in 2014?!

La Soirée has truly become an international phenomenon. Brett Haylock, Creative Director said, “Ten years ago when we assembled this rag tag group of fabulous and freaky artists from the edges of society, vaudeville and variety were dirty words. Entertainment guides didn’t even have cabaret sections back then. Now you can’t swing a leopard-print bra in London’s West End or Downtown Manhattan without hitting a cabaret artiste who’s at the very top of their game.

“It’s been an incredible experience for our international family of performers to see audiences flock back to the genre – and I’m more than a little proud of the role La Soirée has had in that. In excess of 10 million people have seen our show around the globe and it would appear that the general public’s desire for old fashioned entertainment where the performers are working harder than the lights, is stronger than ever.”
