The tours are currently being showcased to motorcycle associations and travel agents as part of Tourism Malaysia’s campaign to promote Malaysia as an ideal destination for motorcycle holidays. According to Tourism Malaysia’s Sydney director, Roslan Abdullah, “well-connected highways, scenic countryside, prolific historic and cultural attractions, plus the chance to sample some of South East Asia’s most delicious cuisine, make Malaysia a great place for motorcycle enthusiasts”.

Says Abdullah, “With motorcycle holiday tour packages on offer from as little as RM200 per person, there are some fantastic options available for travelling by motorcycle to many of Malaysia’s most popular destinations including Kuala Lumpur, Genting Highlands, Melaka, the Cameron Highlands and Penang.”

Each three-day and four-night package covers a distance of between 450 km and 800 km, and all of them include stops at some of the country’s most charming tourist spots. Packages also include tickets to the Shell Malaysia Motorcycle Grand Prix (MotoGP) 2015 in October.

“As always, the Shell Malaysia Motorcycle Grand Prix (MotoGP) will feature some top-notch international racing, and is a perfect complement to our motorcycle holiday tours. Tourism Malaysia is delighted to be able to work with Sepang International Circuit to promote motorsport as a must-see tourist attraction in Malaysia,” said Abdullah.

  • In 2014, a total of 6,649 MotoGP packages worth RM9 million were sold, up from 1,000 packages worth RM1.5 million sold in 2013.
  • The 2014 MotoGP attracted 130,925 visitors in 2014, up from 126,917 visitors in 2013.
