reward-U, the loyalty programme founded by local airline HK Express, has grown rapidly since its inception in April 2016. To strengthen its appeal to the tech-savvy Hong Kong market and millennial travellers in particular, reward-U is launching its mobile app with instant rewards to better engage members and amplify their enjoyable experiences.

“reward-U is the loyalty programme in Hong Kong built on innovation for next-generation consumers. The reward-U mobile app is a key step forward in our value proposition and market fundamentals support that: the millennial market is growing ever larger; statistics show that Hong Kong has one of the world’s highest mobile phone penetration rate at 237%1; and mobile technology continues to develop at a rapid pace,” said Steven Greenway, CEO of reward-U. “The new mobile app will also be an important platform to interact with our members and enhance their overall rewards experience.”

The new mobile app embodies reward-U’s commitment to ease in earning and redeeming points, taking especially into account the needs of young, “mobile-first” consumers who appreciate instant rewards. With its user-friendly interface, the app offers a convenient way for members to earn and redeem points individually or as part of a reward-U Crew, receive latest offers and promotions, and manage accounts at their fingertips.

Through reward-U’s mobile app, members can redeem points for HK Express tickets “any seat, any flight, any time”, and even for add-on items such as extra baggage, pre-purchased meals and seat selection. Partial redemption is allowed, which allows millennial travellers greater access to value fares whenever they feel like going on a vacation.

As university students return to school in September, reward-U, BEA credit card and youth organisation AIESEC2 are joining hands to celebrate the start of a new semester with them. Rolling out the “reward-University” campaign across five university campuses, reward-U aims to engage travel-loving students with a membership drive and social media campaign. In partnering AIESEC, reward-U supports overseas volunteering opportunities for students by enabling them with loyalty points redeemable for travel. This effort contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals launched by the United Nations.

Students who sign up as members and download the reward-U mobile app will receive red packets with reward-U points, to usher in the new semester with good luck. Those who sign up for BEA’s credit card from now until 31 December 2017 will also receive 88,000 reward-U points as a welcome gift3, which is already halfway towards earning a round-trip ticket from Hong Kong to Tokyo on HK Express4.

If students participate further in the “reward-University” photo contest, they stand a chance to become the “reward-University Captain” of their campus and receive a MEGA red packet. The MEGA red packet comes with special privileges including one free round-trip ticket on HK Express, invitation to reward-U’s exclusive events, and 40,000 bonus reward-U points to help students fulfil their dreams to travel and discover unique experiences.
