Ring in the Festive Season with Gastronomic Specialties at Greater China Club’s Sultry Italian Food and Wine Bar, Cadenza

Executive Chef Juanjo Carrillo’s distinctively novel culinary experiences are reflected in the enticing marriage of contemporary and traditional Mediterranean cuisine.  His Christmas gastronomic creations welcomes guests with amuse bouche of Oyster with Caviar, followed by two deluxe seafood dishes – Warm Red Lobster Salad with Sun-dried Tomato Dressing, and Hokkaido Scallop over Creamy Porcini Mushrooms with French Black Truffle and Poached Quail Eggs.

As guests are transported back in time to the glamorous ‘roaring’ 1920s at the Art Deco-inspired ‘urban retreat’ styled after an exuberant reincarnation of the Gatsby era, the gourmet theme continues with hearty Home-made Duck Ragout Ravioli in Port Wine and a choice from two main courses – Lemon Sole “Involtini” with Mediterranean Red Prawn, or Cadenza-style USA Tenderloin “Tournedo Rossini” wrapped in cured pancetta with pan-fried foie gras and a brioche bun, in Madeira sauce with fresh black truffle.

The festive feast ends on a sweet note with a Rum Parfait with Banana Caramel Cream and petit fours.

Priced HK$580 for members and HK$680 for non-members on 24 – 26 December; and HK$680 for members and HK$780 for non-members on New Year’s Eve, the 6-course tasting menu is prepared to delight diner’s palette with a touch of Christmas joy set in an intimate and tranquil ambience.

Chef Carrillo’s creative innovation and constant pursuit of seasonal culinary trends has introduced new à la carte additions to the menu, including a new steakhouse-style menu of prized beef cuts including semi-dry aged USA Prime Rib Eye 400g (HK$548 for members ; HK$588 for non-members), Australian Black Angus Gold Label (100 days grain-fed) Rib-Eye 400g (HK$598 for members ; HK$688 for non-members), USA Angus Tomahawk 1,600g (HK$1,088 for members ; HK$1,238 for non-members) and Grade 1+ Korean Hanwoo Sirloin 320g (HK$598 for members ; HK$688 for non-members).

On a constantly evolving menu that changes according to freshest seasonal produce, new winter specialties also include Porcini Mushroom Soup with Black Truffle and Slow-Cooked Egg (HK$78 for members ; HK$88 for non-members); Mediterranean Octopus and Potato Salad; Black Ink Risotto with Mediterranean Calamari and Red Prawn (HK$78 for members ; HK$88 for non-members); and traditional hearty main courses for the colder weather such Glazed Iberico Pork Ribs in Barbecue Sauce with Sweet Vanilla Tomatoes and Corn In Balsamic (HK$188 for members ; HK$198 for non-members), and Boneless Oxtail Stew in Red Barolo Wine, with Pan-fried Foie Gras (HK$168 for members ; HK$178 for non-members).  Guests who prefer lighter seafood items can opt for Belon 0000 oysters (HK$46 for members; HK$52 for non-members) that are sure to impress in flavour and freshness.

Four set lunch options are ideal for a seasonal business lunch or relaxing weekend brunch, served daily from 12 noon to 3 pm, with a wide choice of appetisers and main courses at various prices depending on selections.

Highlights from the set lunch menu include Pizza with Portobello Mushrooms and Black Truffle, Papardelle with Tomato Beef Ragout Sauce, Black Pork Ribs Glazed with Homemade Barbecue Sauce and Vegetables and Spring Chicken Marinated in Mediterranean Herbs  with “Caponatta” Sauce, priced from HK$138-188.

Diners who opt for a sumptuous upgrade can choose between USA Prime Rib 21days Semi Dry Aged with Potatoes Wedges and Grilled Blue Lobster with Vegetables and Boiled Potato with Hollandaise Sauce.

Gourmands with a sweet tooth can indulge in classic Italian desserts for an extra HK$20, with choices from Panna Cotta with Homemade Blueberry Jam and Tiramisu to Fresh Strawberries with Vanilla Cream and Ricotta Caramel Pudding with Coconut Crumble.

Cadenza is named after its lounge-style venue at Greater China Club with an extensive wine cellar, state-of-the-art sound system playing a treasured collection of jazz vinyl records, and sultry live jazz on weekends.

Greater China Club is located on Unit A, 10/F, D2 Place, 9 Cheung Yee Street, Lai Chi Kok, Kowloon, Hong Kong. It opens from Monday to Thursday and Public Holidays, 12:00 noon to 12:00 midnight and Friday and Saturday, 12:00 noon to 1:00 am.

Open to the public, Greater China Club also offers Corporate and Individual memberships entitling members to special priced menus, waived service charges and exclusive benefits, priced HK$18,888 for corporate membership with 3 nominees and HK$6,888 for individual members.  Monthly membership fees (which can be used for spending in the Club) are HK$600 and HK$300, respectively.
