A good place to wake up, enjoy the view and have the breakfast of your dreams. Rio’s natural beauties make the city the perfect setting to start the day as if you were in a movie. There is no shortage of options for all tastes and budgets in several neighborhoods of the capital and in Niterói, a city in the metropolitan region that shares the Guanabara Bay with Rio. Check out this mouthwatering tour:

Copacabana

Fort Copacabana, located at Posto 6 on Copacabana Beach, is a fort managed by the Army. In it, you’ll find a branch of the traditional Confeitaria Colombo. The delicious breakfast offered by them has a fantastic ingredient: a view to Copacabana Beach and the Sugar Loaf. Inside the Fort, you’ll feel completely out of the chaos. (Praça Cel. Eugênio Franco 1. Open from Tuesdays to Sundays, as of 10 am)

Jardim Botânico

The park created in 1808 by Dom João VI and once frequented by personalities such as Tom Jobim and Clarice Lispector offers two breakfast options for those who wish to start the day in a beautiful and quiet setting. Jarbô Café is located right next to Espaço Tom Jobim. And the Garden Café is located right behind the Visitor Center. After starting the day with breakfast, make sure you visit the park’s 137 acres. (Rua Jardim Botânico 1008. Open from Tuesdays to Sundays, as of 8 am)

Ipanema

There is no shortage of options for breakfast in the city’s trendiest neighborhood.   However, those who choose Espaço 7zero6 will enjoy a spectacular view of Ipanema Beach, Lagoa and even Corcovado. Their breakfast is impeccable. The menu is abundant and varied. Reservation required. (Av. Vieira Souto 706, terraço. Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, from 8 am to noon).

Santa Teresa

The charming neighborhood located between the Southern and Northern zones also offers a perfect breakfast with a stunning view. At Restaurante Térèze, visitors can enjoy the view of Santa Teresa, the Guanabara Bay and part of the City Center. This upscale space offers a varied menu. It also offers good options for vegans. Reservation is recommended. (Rua Almirante Alexandrino 660. Daily, as of 7 am)

Niterói

The Museum of Contemporary Art, designed by Oscar Niemeyer, has an incredible view of the Guanabara Bay and Rio de Janeiro. Located in Niterói, it is just over 25 minutes from Rio’s city center. The bistro in the museum is charming and quite popular among families. Because it is usually full, we advise you to arrive early to enjoy the best of the buffet. Reservation is recommended if you want to ensure you have a good table. And, since you’re there, make sure you also visit the museum. (Praça Mirante de Boa Viagem s/n. Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, as of 9 am).
