All cabins are for sole occupancy with no single supplement – saving thousands

Surging demand from solo travellers has prompted five-star river cruise line, Riviera Travel, to add a further three cruises to the five previously announced to make a record eight cruises exclusively for solo travellers in Europe in 2019, with all cabins free of single supplements. This is a 167 per cent increase on the three solo-only cruises offered this year.

The three new solo-only sailings are:

*a seven-night cruise from Cologne along the Rhine River in Germany on October 21, 2019
*a seven-night cruise from Budapest on the Danube River on November 4, 2019
*a seven-night cruise from Porto along the Douro River in Portugal on November 8, 2019

This adds to the five solo-only sailings announced previously:

* two seven-night cruises from Budapest on the Danube River on April 1 and October 28, 2019
* a seven-night cruise on the Rhone and Saone Rivers from Lyon to Avignon in France on October 31, 2019.
* two seven-night cruises from Porto on the Douro River, Portugal, on March 29 & 31, 2019 – both fully booked.

Although a relatively new brand to Australians, Riviera Travel was established in 1984 in the UK and has since garnered a large customer base with its authentic and enriching holidays that offer superb value for money. The company is consistently recognised by the travel industry and consumers for outstanding quality, service and value.

Riviera Travel’s International Sales Manager, Thomas Morgan, said the solo cruises address a gap in the market for people who wish to enjoy a river cruise but are travelling on their own or simply prefer to have a cabin to themselves.

“We know solo travellers enjoy our river cruises and to meet growing demand, we have upped the number of cruise itineraries exclusively for solo travellers to seven in 2019,” Mr Morgan said. “Our five-star ships provide the perfect base and our itineraries offer opportunities to share wonderful experiences with like-minded travellers. The cruises have been planned for spring and autumn, 2019, when the destinations visited will be more relaxed, so customers don’t have to jostle with the summer crowds They can choose any cabin or suite on each ship and there will be no additional single supplement to pay whatsoever.”

Fares start at A$2769, are subject to availability and include daily guided excursions, onboard meals and Wi-Fi.

Offering inclusive, five-star cruises at fares up to 50 per cent lower than river companies more established in Australia, Riviera Travel’s 12 luxury river cruise ships will carry a record 47,000 passengers on 327 departures across Europe in 2019. Riviera Travel’s spacious, five-star ships offer fine dining restaurants, marble lobbies, sumptuous lounges, sun decks, splash pools, gyms and suites boasting French or full balconies.  The biggest river cruise operator in the UK market, Riviera Travel made its first foray into the growing Australian market in 2016.
