Rosewood Hotel Group, the global hotel group with four distinct brands — Rosewood Hotels & Resorts®, New World® Hotels & Resorts, pentahotels, and KHOS — opens the next chapter of its Asian expansion with appointments to manage four key properties:  Rosewood Shenzhen (opening 2022), Rosewood Hermana Mayor (2023), New World Jaipur Resort (2023) and Rosewood Shanghai (2024.) These hotels significantly add to the group’s trajectory to extend its footprint into iconic destinations across Asia Pacific.

The group’s expansion is distinguished by its approach to creating strong, modern, and differentiated brands, its focus on design and innovation, and a commitment to a very bespoke and personal approach to hospitality.

Robust Asia expansion for Rosewood Hotels & Resorts

“We intend to double the number of Rosewood hotels in the next five years, from our current 24 hotels in 15 countries, with a full one-third of new properties located in Asia,” said Sonia Cheng, chief executive officer of Rosewood Hotel Group.  “China remains a priority and our entry into Shanghai and Shenzhen represents an important expansion of our footprint in Tier 1 cities.”

The growth of the group’s ultra-luxury brand is fuelled by its A Sense of Place® philosophy – Rosewood’s focus on creating exquisite, one-of-a-kind properties that reflect each destination’s history, culture and lifestyle in the world’s most desirable locations.

The new Asia hotels join Rosewood deals announced this past year for Chengdu, Yangon, Antigua and Houston, recent openings in Phnom Penh, Luang Prabang and Baha Mar in the Bahamas, and the re-opening of Rosewood Bermuda following a landmark renovation.

The brand first embarked on its Asian journey with Rosewood Beijing in 2016, which introduced the brand’s contemporary sophistication and A Sense of Place® concept to the region.  Four more one-of-a-kind ultra-luxury Rosewood properties have opened in four Asian countries in the last 12 months:  Rosewood Sanya, Rosewood Phuket, Rosewood Phnom Penh and Rosewood Luang Prabang. By the end of Spring 2019, Rosewood will have nine unique, ultra-luxury properties across Asia, with the highly anticipated openings of Rosewood Hong Kong, Rosewood Bangkok, and Rosewood Yangon this Winter and Rosewood Guangzhou in Spring 2019.

Pioneering KHOS brand to debut in 2019

The KHOS brand exemplifies the group’s focus on innovation and its strength in understanding the needs of today’s luxury travellers.  KHOS will unveil its first hotels in a global rollout in 2019.

The new upscale business-lifestyle brand will complement the group’s existing portfolio of brands by serving a distinct and emerging market segment. Designed specifically for the connected, non-stop nature of today’s digital era, the brand is inspired by the energy, dynamism and creativity of modern Asia.  It turns the traditional notion of a business hotel on its head by blending high functionality with impeccable style.  Underpinned by the group’s strength in innovation, design, and creativity, KHOS will create a distinctly market-driven, and operationally streamlined brand within the group’s portfolio.  It will showcase a fresh approach to public spaces, dining, business facilities, meetings and events, wellness and the guest experience.

Measured and meaningful growth:  the strategic priority

Rosewood Hotel Group’s thoughtful and considered growth will see the group add 50 hotels to its portfolio globally — a 70% increase across the four brands – in the next three to five years. While an ambitious pipeline, great care is taken to ensure the global consistency and integrity of each brand and that its global expansion is managed to ensure an unwavering focus on guests, partners, associates and the local community.

“The philosophy of Relationship Hospitality is a critical foundation for the group, and is a defining pillar of our growth vision,” said Sonia Cheng.  “Relationship Hospitality is a focus on the core fundamentals of the hospitality industry: guest experience, being a positive and active contributor to our communities, creating opportunities for growth for our associates, and delivering value and high returns for our owner-partners. This has been one of the critical determinants for our success to date and will remain so going forward.”
