The Royal Opera House Muscat has released the program for 2017/18, the seventh season. Featuring a number of popular operas- kicking off with Aida in September, ballets, Omani shows, Arabic performances and concerts;  the theme- ‘A Legendary Season’ has been taken to reflect the stature of the many stars who will appear on stage in unforgettable performances.

Highlights include a gala concert tribute to one of the world’s all-time greatest opera singers, the legendary Luciano Pavarotti, with songs to be performed by some of today’s top opera stars.  This will run in conjunction with an exhibition of treasured Pavarotti memorabilia.

Other highlights include an adaptation of Swan Lake and musical performances by renowned singers like Cliff Richard and Ann Hampton Callaway, as well as a number of opportunities for children to get involved with productions like The Moth Princess, Peter and the Wolf, Cinderella, and Peter Pan.

ROHM also presents the “Coffee & Dates” series, inviting patrons to a relaxed setting where renowned artists share stories of their lives on stage and anecdotes related to their careers and to the current production.  Omani coffee and dates are offered in a traditional gesture of hospitality and participants are encouraged to interact personally with guest artists to gain a deeper appreciation of performances on stage.

Mona Tannous, Country Manager for Sultanate of Oman Tourism in Australia and New Zealand said “The Royal Opera House is a relatively new attraction in a country that is steeped in rich cultural history and traditions and we would encourage all visitors to go along to immerse themselves in one of the local concerts such as the popular annual military tattoo or see an adaptation of a much loved ballet or opera.”

Outside of the season or scheduled performance times, the architectural beauty, decorative artistry with motifs derived from Islamic, Mughal, Oriental and European art can be seen on guided tours of the Royal Opera House from Saturday to Thursday each week.

The Royal Opera House Muscat’s 2017–2018 Season commences in September 2017 and will run until May 2018.
