Royal Wellington Golf Club has appointedKurt Greve as its inaugural Chief Executive.

During an extended spell in Asia, Greve has worked in China, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

Royal Wellington Captain Andrew Harcourt said there was an international search for the position and the club was fortunate to have attracted someone of Greve’s experience and expertise.

Royal Wellington has been confirmed as the venue for next year’s Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship.

Harcourt said: “Kurt brings a wide range of golf management expertise to his role with us and his relationships with golf organisations and clubs in the United States, the Caribbean and Asia will be of considerable benefit to Royal Wellington.

“Kurt is a PGA of America Master Professional and a member of the Club Managers Association of America. He is currently based in Bangkok, Thailand, and has managed clubs in the United States, the Caribbean and Asia.”

In 2011, Greve was working at Singapore Island Country Club when it hosted the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship.

“Royal Wellington has been chosen to host next year’s tournament and Kurt’s experience will be a real asset to making this showcase event a success,” said Harcourt.

Greve will take up his appointment in November.

“We very much look forward to welcoming Kurt and his family to Royal Wellington,” said Harcourt.

Greve said: “I will be sad to leave Asia, but extremely honoured and excited for this incredible opportunity to be the first CEO of the Royal Wellington Golf Club.

“I will work very hard to make the Royal Wellington Golf Club the very best and support the overall success of New Zealand golf.”
