Ruby Collection Transitions from Land to Sand in the 2019 Sand Safari Arts Festival

The Ruby Collection’s very own William the Bear is being re-created in sand and will be on display as part of the 2019 Sand Trail in Surfers Paradise until 25th February.

The 2019 Sand Trail is an event featured in the annual Sand Safari Arts Festival, a free, family-focused event initiated by Surfers Paradise Alliance (SPA), showcasing large-scale sand sculptures that fit with the sand-and-sea inspired theme.

William the Bear, named after Ruby Collection owner and developer William O’Dwyer, is Ruby’s furry little ambassador who will trade in his bow tie for an eye patch to keep in with the Sun, Sand and Sea theme of Sand Safari.

CEO of The Ruby Collection David Brook is thrilled to have William featuring in the 2019 Sand Trail and excited about the opportunities it will provide for the Ruby Apartments.

“The Sand Safari Arts Festival is an innovative, family-friendly event that invites the community to engage with one another and appreciate new large-scale art pieces that are exclusively created for this event,” said David.

“As we are a new property, it is a unique and creative opportunity to showcase both the resort and William the Bear to visitors and families of Surfers Paradise.”

William the Bear will be sculpted by Karen Fralich who, in the past 25 years, has won 27 First Place Titles in Masters Level International Sand Sculpture contests, as well as five World Championship titles.

William the Bear will also be taking part in live character shows where guests can meet William, give him a cuddle, snap a selfie and even join him for breakfast or lunch at Ruby special events…yum!

The Ruby Collection will be running a ‘Gram and Win’ competition for the duration of Sand Safari, where locals and tourists can share their snaps with them for a chance to win their very own signature plush William the Bear teddy.
