Spread the love

Nowadays, you don’t need an office to base your work from. Modern technology has made it possible to run a business on the go.

Here are just a few measures that you can take, allowing you to run your business from anywhere at any time.

Buy a tablet

A tablet is a key tool for working on the go. It allows you to do pretty much every task you would do on a computer but without having to be stuck at a desk. Whilst laptops can offer a certain degree of portability, they still need to be propped somewhere, unlike tablets which can be used standing up. Tablets may struggle with some of the more intensive tasks (for which, you may want a laptop), however on the whole they can manage most general work. There are guides online such as this one at Tech Radar that can help you to choose the best tablet for business use.

Take advantage of apps

There are hundreds of apps out there that help you to do everything from accounting to graphic design on the go. There are also a number of practical apps that could be useful if you have a team of employees, including diary sharing apps that allow you to view each other’s schedules so that you know when best to contact someone. You can even create your own app.

Use video communication

Without an office, you have nowhere to meet clients or conduct interviews with applicants. You can always get around this by meeting people at a coffee bar or somewhere similarly neutral. Video communication meanwhile is another option, which allows you to have face to face meetings without either one of you having to travel. Communicating by video can useful is you’re constantly travelling – it can save time and it can save money.

Outsource answering phonecalls

If you spend a lot of time driving or doing practical hand-on work, you may not always be able to answer the phone. For such jobs, outsourcing a telephone answering company such as Virtual HQ to answer all calls for you can be useful. Not only does this ensure that the phone is always answered, but it can make clients believe that you do in fact own an office with reception staff, giving your company a greater sense of credibility.

Pay for portable wi-fi

Being able to access wi-fi on the go could be essential. Having you own portable wi-fi source could keep you connected wherever you go. There are pay-as-you-go portable routers and ones that are paid on a contract basis. Some modern cars are even being fitted with their own wi-fi source, which could be useful if you’re often driving and need wi-fi for GPS.
