Rustico Pays Homage to Gastronomic Delights of Autumn with Dazzling Exclusive Menu

Spanish taverna Rustico is celebrating gastronomic highlights of autumn at the raved Lai Chi Kok dining destination D2 Place, paying homage to traditional Spanish gourmet seafood complemented with rustic Basque cider and white truffle. Chef Carlos Salvador Asensio brings the culinary glamour of Barcelona’s 2 Michelin star Moments Restaurant by Carme Ruscalleda to his annual gastronomic tribute this autumn.

The perfect season for Spanish seafood specialties, Rustico’s authentic menu is served from 4 November to mid-December, headlined by a Cold Seafood Platter of oysters (3 pcs), barnacles, sea snails, langoustines (3 pcs), pink shrimps (3 pcs) and spider crab (1 / 2 pcs), served with Tartare, Cocktail and Romesco saucses, priced HK$688.

Shellfish specialties include Spanish Barnacles ‘Percebes al Natural’ poached in sea water (HK$248); Atlantic Venus Clams in “Albariño” White Wine (HK$168); and Mediterranean Sea Snails (HK$128).

Other Spanish favourites extend to Catalonia-style, highlighting Pan-Seared Spanish Sea Cucumber ‘Espardeñas’ with creamy potato, sautéed artichokes and parsley pesto (HK$268); Atlantic Langoustines Flambéed with Cognac (HK$338) and Grilled Whole Octopus Leg with Chimichurri Sauce (HK$248).

Traditional Basque specialties include Juicy Spider Crab Rice ‘Arroz de Centolla’ (HK$388) and pan-seared Whole Turbot ‘A la Espalda’ with garlic, chili and parsley, perfect for 2-3 to share (HK$680).

White truffles* are also offered at an irresistible wholesale price on his eagerly-anticipated menu celebrating the ‘holy grail of gastronomy’.

The prized delicacy is grated on traditional dishes like Omelette with Confit Potato and Leek (HK$88), Creamy Mashed Potato with Fresh Mushroom Ragout and Organic Spanish Egg (HK$98) and Fresh White Asparagus with Butter Creamy Sauce (HK$108).

It also graces less familiar gastronomic companions, such as Jerusalem Artichoke Mash with Fresh Mushroom Ragout and Seared Foie Gras (HK$128), Spaghetti Carbonara with Guanciale (HK$128), Lasagna with Guinea Fowl Ragout and light Béchamel Sauce (HK$168) and Mediterranean Hake with Creamy Puntine Pasta and Seasonal Vegetables (HK$288).

Rustico is also celebrating the historic Basque cider tradition, which dates back over a thousand years in “the land of the apple”, favoured by the region’s whalers and cod fishermen on their long-distance voyages to Greenland and Newfoundland.

Guests can honour the tradition and pour their cider with Sagardotegi, from a cider menu including Classic Cider with tonic, Cider Cocktail with thyme honey & tonic, Cider Sangria with Grand Marnier, gin & soda, Citrusy Cider with lime, peach & soda, Cider Cooler with rosemary honey & Sprite, and Fall Cider Sangria. Kept in big barrels, guests will be invited to serve themselves, and enjoy the fresh-out-of-barrel flavours of the cider.

A selection of four stunning ocean themed cocktails are also available to elevate the seafood experience, including Ocean (HK$108), Oasis (HK$108), Shooter – Rock & Roe (HK$78), and Cross Martini(HK$108).

Rustico is named after its traditional rustic Spanish taverna décor – complete with wooden beams, an open kitchen with hanging jambon, pots and pans, and red brick/tile mosaic flooring. In true ‘taverna’ style, the intimate venue even incorporates semi-outdoor al fresco seating under grapevines.

Occupying 2,000 sq ft, Rustico serves authentic Spanish tapas in a relaxed and elegant setting that is distinctly modern with covert Spanish accents. Seating 80, it features an al fresco terrace where diners can enjoy the art of people watching, like a true Spaniard; or enjoy the rustic brick arch interiors modelled after typical Catalan restaurants. An open kitchen allows diners to interact with the kitchen and observe Chef Carlos Salvador Asensio’s crafting skills.
