Rydges Hotels and Resorts the Resting Place of Masters Games

The Area General Manager Rydges Hotels and Resorts in Cairns, Matthew Hurley said he is proud to confirm his organisation is a major supporter and the official accommodation partner of the inaugural Great Barrier Reef Masters Games that will be held in Cairns 8 -11 August, 2013.

Underpinning Rydges’ ethos to support and embrace a spirit of community, this latest partnership adds to those already secured with Skytrans Cairns Taipans, Peninsula School Sport, FNQ Rugby, AFL Cairns and AFL Juniors, Cairns Show and affiliated events to name a few.

In its partnership with Great Barrier Reef Masters Games, Rydges Hotels and Resorts’ Esplanade, Tradewinds and Plaza properties will be the key accommodation provider for an anticipated 2000masters-aged men and women from Australia, Oceania and South East Asia expected to converge on Cairns next month to compete in a program of 17 sporting disciplines from track and field, dragon boating and lawn bowls to  beach volleyball and tennis.

“We are extremely excited to be a major partner of this history making event and look forward to having our name associated with such a fantastic and inspiring initiative.  We see great synergy with this partnership.  We benefit from having our name associated with one of the city’s highly anticipated events.  In return, we promote service and hospitality to visitors that is in an integral component of successful event based tourism,” he said.

Events Management Queensland General Manager Cameron Hart said his organisation welcomes this partnership which offers not one, but three hotels.

“It is a real luxury to be able to have extensive choice when it comes to rooms, restaurants and venue options. We look forward to forging a partnership with Rydges Hotels and working together for mutual benefit in what is going to be a big first year for our Games,” he said.
