SAA-Virgin Australia code share agreement now includes Sydney

Africa’s leading airline, South African Airways (SAA), has announced it has extended its new code share on Virgin Australia’s domestic services to include Sydney.

Last month, SAA announced a new codeshare agreement that would allow SAA passengers to fly with Virgin Australia from Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide to connect to its service out of Perth.

Commenting on the move today, SAA’s Country Manager for Australasia Tim Clyde-Smith said the extension was a logical expansion in the airline’s relationship with Virgin Australia.

“This means our customers travelling from Australia’s largest city can now reach the African continent using one ticket via our Australian entry port of Perth,” Tim said.

“The new addition to the SAA code share offering means tickets are on sale immediately and are for travel from 1st June subject to regulatory approval,” Tim said.

“We have had a tremendous response since we first announced our new relationship with Virgin Australia in early February whereby SAA places its code onto Virgin Australia’s flights connecting with SAAs operation out of and into Perth. This new development greatly enhances our ability to serve our loyal customers and work with our travel partners in New South Wales,” he said.

“In addition to a seamless travel experience including check-in and boarding passes from Sydney through to South Africa and onto any destination in Africa served by SAA, our customers can through-check their baggage and earn miles on our Voyager frequent flyer programme,” Tim concluded.

Tickets for the new code share flights can be purchased online at  through travel agents or by calling reservations on 1300 435 972.
