South African Airways (SAA) has won four APEX Regional Passenger Choice Awards for the Africa region, reflecting the airline’s reputation as a leading African carrier.

APEX (Airline Passenger Experience Association) is the only non-profit membership trade organisation that includes leading airlines, industry suppliers and aviation industry stakeholders. The awards were announced at a ceremony in Shanghai, China last week.

According to Tim Clyde-Smith, SAA’s Country Manager for Australasia, the awards were for Best Seat Comfort, Best Cabin Service, Best Food and Beverage, and Best Overall airline in Africa.

“Overall, SAA won four out of the six APEX awards for airlines operating in Africa. SAA also won the Best in Region award which the airline last won in 2012,” Tim said.

“The APEX Passenger Choice Awards have become one of the global aviation industry’s respected awards programs with winners chosen based on independent, direct customer feedback,” he said.

The awards were presented at the conclusion of the 2018 APEX Asia Conference held in Shanghai. The awards covered Asia and Australia, Africa and the Middle-East representing the opinions of passengers around the world via APEX’s Official Airline Ratings (OARs).

“These awards reflect independent, unbiased views about the total passenger experience from booking through to check-in as well as in-flight experience in defined categories,” Tim said.

“It’s great news and a clear reflection that our hard work and commitment to be the best airline in Africa is continuing to pay off, “Tim concluded.
