Saffron At Banyan Tree Macau, First Restaurant In Hong Kong And Macau To Earn Prestigious “Thai Select Premium” Award

Saffron, Banyan Tree Macau’s award-wining Thai restaurant, has become the first and only restaurant in the Hong Kong and Macau region to receive thewell-recognized accolade“Thai Select Premium” awardfrom the Ministry of Commerce for Thailand in Hong Kong & Macau on 21st October 2015.


Though Saffron hasreceived the “Thai Select” award for three consecutive years prior, Mr. Witt Maneenetr, Trade Commissioner & Consul for Thailand in Hong Kong, upgraded this to the “Thai Select Premium” status this year, after sampling a selection of randomly picked dishes from the A la Carte menu created by Chef Kanokwan Pungjaroenkijkul (Gina), Chef de Cuisine at Saffron.

Mr. Maneenetr commented, “The dining experience at Saffron was so authentic, I really felt that we were dining in Thailand. The flavours and the atmosphere reminded me so much of home, from the ingredients and the perfect taste, the music and decoration, to the excellent and friendly service that we have all come to associate with Thailand.”

The menu, that uses ingredients freshly imported from Thailand, includes a variety of traditional and signature dishes including Yum Som-O Nua Poo– a pomelo salad served with fried crabmeat, ground peanuts and roasted chilli dressing, Tom Yum Goong Mae Nam– the well-loved classic soup containing spicy river prawns, lemongrass and Galangal, Phad Kaprao Nua– wok fried U.S beef tenderloin with hot basil and chilli and Gaeng Kiew Wan Gai– braised chicken green curry with apple, aubergine and rice noodles.

To celebrate this achievement, Saffron is now offering “Dine 4 Pay 3” for Flavours of Siam, Macau’s only Saturday Thai dinner buffet featuring fresh seafood and traditional Thai favourites for all Thai food lovers. The buffet is priced at MOP458 per adult.

As the cold of winter sets in, Saffron is also offering a traditional Thai Hot Pot for family and friends to gather and enjoy together. Diners may choose among a bold Tom Yum Broth, a meaty Tom Sab (Beef Short Rib) Broth or a fragrant Chicken Turmeric Clear Soup as the stock for theirpot. A vast choice of seafood and meat items is prepared to spoil your taste buds. From the moment you taste the appetizers that precedes your hot pot, you will begin to understand that at Saffron, the principles of Thai cuisine are strictly adhered to, with a masterful balance of hot, sweet, sour and salty.  Hot Pot is priced at MOP698 for two persons.  All prices are subject to 10% service charge.
