I am pleased provide a further update on the evolving Sales global talent management framework and delighted to announce that Nick Judd has been appointed to the role of Regional General Manager Americas effective from 31 March 2016.
Nick has done a tremendous job in helping turn the China market around to achieve profitability and I look forward to his leadership playing a significant role in defending our existing North American routes and building demand on our new Houston and Buenos Aires services. Nick will lead the consolidation of our emerging partnership with United Airlines. He will also assume responsibility for the South American region effective 30 June 2016. In a further change, Kathryn Robertson, General Manager UK & Europe, will report directly to me effective from 31 March 2016.
The Executive team has also made the decision to implement a new Asia structure that will see Japan, China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Vietnam report through to a Regional General Manager Asia role.
I am equally delighted to announce that Scott Carr has been appointed into the role of Regional General Manager Asia, based in Shanghai. Scott has demonstrated a strong ability to succeed in a challenging Asian business context and I look forward to the benefit of his highly commercial approach across the wider Asian region going forward. Scott will be responsible for continuing to diversify our revenue base on Asia routes while also generating new opportunities for growth.
Given Scott’s new appointment we are now seeking expressions of interest in the Head of Japan role which will report through to Scott in his new Regional General Manager Asia role. This appointment will be for a two to three year term and is intended to commence on 31 March 2016.
A key priority for the Executive Team is to substantially reposition our presence in the Australia market as a core part of our revenue base. The Australian steering committee has been working closely with the Strategy team to redefine the Australia market strategy making this a really exciting time to be working in our Australia business. We have ambitious growth targets through to FY20, including the need to achieve significant long-haul growth from this region in the face of some strong competition. To achieve this growth we will be adopting a state by state strategy and investing significantly in Victoria, South Australia, Queensland, New South Wales and Western Australia.
We are currently reviewing what additional resourcing will be required to deliver on our ambitious growth aspirations and I look forward to bringing you more detail on this in the New Year. In the meantime, I am pleased to confirm that we will be establishing a new Regional General Manager Australia role to reflect our elevated presence in this market and the drive to establish Auckland as an Australasian hub for long haul traffic.
This is a fantastic opportunity for the successful candidate to operate at a senior strategic level across multiple states and is well timed as we launch our new Buenos Aires and Houston services. We are now actively seeking expressions of interest from potential internal candidates and have also engaged an executive search firm to identify potential external candidates. Mathew Bosher from the HR team will be handling all expressions of interest for both the Head of Japan and Regional General Manager Australia roles; these will close on 18 December. Finally, as we expand our global business and strengthen our geographical presence the Executive Team is keen to see a more globally mobile workforce with greater opportunities for New Zealand based staff to gain valuable in-market experience across the many business cultures we operate in. Expect global mobility and a deeper embedding of New Zealand based staff to be a key theme as we head into 2016.
