IT’S MORE THAN JUST MUSIC: SALON İKSV IN FEBRUARY

An indispensable venue offering new discoveries for those seeking alternative sounds in Istanbul since 2010, Salon İKSV is as vibrant as ever in February. The artists to take the stage at Salon include Khruangbin, The Kites, ELZ AND THE CULT and Ben Fero.

Birlikte Güzel: Khruangbin / Friday-Saturday-Sunday, 8-9-10 February, 22.00-22.30- 20:00

Texan indie pop band Khruangbin caught the attention of many newspapers and magazines from The Guardian to i-D by the strength of the exotic touches apparent in their sound. They became widely known through Bonobo’s cure for the craving of new and good music, the Late Nights compilation. Their name means ‘airplane’ in Thai, which points to the international scale of the names they are inspired by, in their own words. The instrumental surf-rock band The Shadows are their musical gods. They tread the waters of both psychedelic and dream-pop as they bring the unwalked musical paths on to the stage. The band is described by The Guardian as ‘…wistful soul and slow-motion funk with an exotic ambience that might not sound out of place in a Tarantino movie.’. They left everyone in awe when they appeared on the Salon stage in 2016. Their fan base in Istanbul grew exponentially since then, peaking with their second Salon appearance at the beginning of 2018, in support of their new album Con Todo El Mundo. Now, they are revisiting their favourite venue Salon İKSV with three sold-out concerts on 8, 9 and 10 February in Istanbul in the scope of their 2019 tour.
