San Francisco is renowned for celebration on a grand scale and the coming holiday season in the city-by-the-bay will be decked out in magical tradition this year. It all starts where this town of holiday lights meets the revitalized Waterfront.

002SteveCafe&Cuisine250x250Holiday revelers will be greeted with the most exciting “gift” to the city, including the dramatically-lit Embarcadero Center where each of five buildings is outlined in twinkling lights. At the center of this Waterfront holiday destination, Embarcadero Center features an outdoor ice skating rink as well as over 100 retail stores and restaurants (embarcaderocenter.com) each of which offers their own brand of cheer. The neighboring Hyatt Regency San Francisco is a virtual, over-sized “snow globe” promising daily snowfall in its Guinness Book of World Records largest lobby.

Complimented by over 300,000 cascading lights as well as the popular snow village display, which features thousands of intriguing collectibles. The magical, holiday mood extends beyond Embarcadero Center and Hyatt Regency San Francisco into the other Waterfront landmarks. Across the street, the Ferry Building will be decked out with holiday treats for both the eyes and taste buds, with food-oriented and sustainability-themed gifts and decor; the newly relocated ExplOratorium is planning to introduce the adults-only “After Dark” on December 5, wherein a holiday-themed “Glow” event will bring out all the lights of the season; along the promenade we’ll see illuminated boats as well as the many piers that grace the Waterfront, and of course, within view of this bustling and revived bay-front location is the much celebrated Bay Bridge Lights Project, which can be seen from any of these festive locations.

For those visiting from within the city, other Bay Area locales or from afar, Hyatt Regency San Francisco is holiday central and is the perfect “home for the holidays.” With its ideal location at Embarcadero Center, the hotel is convenient to all forms of Bay Area public transportation, including MUNI, BART, ferries and historic street cars, and is only steps from the California Street Cable Car line (where riders do not have to wait in long lines to hop aboard). Additionally, there are many parking options, including the four buildings of Embarcadero Center’s four underground garages, which offers validation for patrons of some of the center’s retailers and restaurants.
