Luxury travel specialist, Sanctuary Retreats, has recently earned a number of coveted accolades at the prestigious 2018 World Travel Awards held late last year. For the second year running, its flagship property, Sanctuary Chief’s Camp, was awarded ‘Botswana’s Leading Safari Lodge’, with its . Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp awarded Uganda’s Leading Tented Safari Camp for the third consecutive year.
Established in 1993 to celebrate excellence in the travel and tourism industry, the World Travel Awards are one of the highest accolades a travel company can receive, described as “the Oscars of the Travel Industry” by The Wall Street Journal. Voting is conducted online by travel and tourism professionals worldwide.
According to Michael McCall, “Both the World Travel Awards and the Conde Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards of the highest commendations in the travel industry, and we feel incredibly privileged and humbled to receive this recognition from our peers”.
The awards come at the end of a busy 18 months for the luxury travel operator which has seen it unveil extensive transformations of many of its camps, lodges and cruise ships as part of an ongoing major investment program across the Sanctuary portfolio.
