Hilton Worldwide today announced the appointment of Saundra Goldman to the position of general manager of the 299-key Hilton Granite Park – Plano hotel in Plano, Texas which is scheduled to open in late summer 2014.

As the general manager, Goldman will oversee the opening and operations of this new conference hotel and will report to Area Vice President Andy Slater.

“A seasoned hotel professional with an established track record, Saundra will be instrumental in the successful launch of this new, nine-story contemporary and energy efficient Hilton hotel,” said Slater. “This project represents a homecoming of sorts as our founder, Conrad Hilton, opened his first hotel 94 years ago, not far from here in Cisco, Texas. Under Saundra’s leadership, Hilton Granite Park – Plano will be ready to welcome guests with Texas-sized hospitality.”

Most recently, Goldman served as general manager of the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Houston Downtown. She first joined Hilton in 1986 as assistant director of front office operations for the 700-room Pittsburgh Hilton. Through a series of promotions with increasing responsibility, she has held positions at many notable Hilton managed properties, including Palmer House a Hilton Hotel, Flamingo Hilton, Reno Hilton, DoubleTree Guest Suites in Minneapolis, DoubleTree Club hotel, Miami, and DoubleTree New Orleans – Lakeside. Goldman holds a B.S.B.A. degree in Hotel Restaurant Management/Business from University of Denver.

As part of a newly established partnership with Granite Properties and Woodbine Development, Hilton Worldwide will manage Hilton Granite Park – Plano. In addition to the 299 upscale, ultra-modern guest rooms, the new-build hotel will include 35,000 square feet of conference space, a full-service restaurant, retail shop, fitness center and outdoor pool and lounge. The lobby will feature a large bar area and a unique, multi-purpose technology lounge. The hotel’s guest rooms and bathrooms incorporate upscale finishes and lighting, with stone countertops, custom sinks, lighted mirrors and a mosaic back-lit tile. A pedestrian boardwalk along the waterfront connects the hotel to the adjacent conference center and surrounding office buildings. Hilton Granite Park – Plano was designed to achieve LEED Silver certification.
