One of the world’s hottest destinations right now – Iceland – will be circumnavigated as part of a new, 10-night expedition cruise package next July, with a 15 per cent saving offered by Adventure Canada in partnership with small ship specialist, Cruise Traveller.

Located at the edge of the Arctic Circle, Iceland has seen a huge rise in popularity as a tourist destination, with the number of foreign visitors to the country quadrupling over the last six years. This has been attributed, in part, to its otherworldly geology increasingly featuring in blockbuster movies and TV productions such as Thor, Captain America, Star Wars and Game of Thrones.

Highlighting Iceland’s famous wildlife, waterfalls, glaciers and lava fields, the circle Iceland voyage will take travellers to some of the country’s most remote and beautiful spots, only accessible by expedition ship. Guests will travel aboard Adventure Canada’s 198-passenger, eco-friendly vessel, the Ocean Endeavour, and have opportunities to go bird-watching and hiking, with Zodiac trips ashore.

The circumnavigation will begin and end in Iceland’s cosmopolitan capital of Reykjavik, which dates back to 874 AD. After a free night’s accommodation on July 4, 2019, guests will board the ship the next day, bound for Iceland’s many fjords, rugged cliffs, waterfalls, lava flows and the ice-capped Snaefellsjokull Volcano,  made famous by Jules Verne’s classic novel, Journey to the Centre of the Earth. The ship will also call into quaint villages and Grimsey Island on the Arctic Circle which is home to a million seabirds.

Other highlights of the circumnavigation include a visit to Husavik, the whale capital of Iceland, with 15 species seen offshore, plus a visit to the volcanic Vestmannaeyjar islands, home to Eldfell volcano, formed in 1973, making it the youngest volcano in the world.

Beginning July 4, 2019, and including one night’s pre-cruise stay in Reykjavik as well as all shipboard meals and zodiac shore excursions, the cruise is available from US$5860 per person, twin-share, including the 15 per cent discount for bookings made by January 19, 2019. Flights from Australia are extra.

For solo travellers, fares in selected cabins are available for only 18 per cent extra at US$6895. The offers are subject to availability and conditions apply.
