The 20-day Vietnam & Laos on a Shoestring tour covers plenty of South East Asian ground, starting in Vietnam’s biggest city Ho Chi Minh City, heading through Vietnam’s hottest tourist spots including Nha Trang, Hoi An, Hue, Halong Bay and Hanoi where you can indulge in noodle making demonstrations, brush up on history in the Royal Citadel and tombs, explore caves, visit tailors, relax on beaches and visit the historically significant sites such as the Temple of Literature, Hoa Lo Prison and the Old Quarter. From there you head across to Laos, first finding yourself in their capital city, Vientiane where you can visit temples, see the golden stupa of That Luang and scour markets. After Vientiane, the tour heads to Vang Vieng, Luang Prabang to witness the giving of alms to the Buddhist monks, visit night markets, explore caves or take a cooking class, before cruising along the Mekong on a houseboat, finding yourself in Thailand’s Chiang Khong, where you’re able to visit the Doi Suthep temple, catch some Thai boxing or grab a bargain at the famous night market before the tour concludes in Chiang Mai.
