Savings for couples and solo travellers on India and Sri Lanka river cruise package – Book by January 31, 2019

Indian river cruise operator, Adventure Resorts and Cruises (ARC), and Australia’s Cruise Traveller have added a tour of the tropical and culturally rich island of Sri Lanka to an exotic cruise in the rarely visited, Indian state of Assam.

Australians can save $1120 per couple and $1060 for solo travellers on the new, 21-night ‘Undiscovered India and Sri Lanka’ package if they book before January 31, 2019. The package includes return flights from Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide or Perth and local flights and transfers in India and Sri Lanka. After arriving in India, the trip begins with two-nights’ accommodation in Kolkata followed by a seven-night cruise on the Brahmaputra River, one-night in Delhi and an 11-night escorted tour of Sri Lanka.

Departing Australia on March 29, 2019, the package kicks off in Kolkata with guests getting a full day of sightseeing in the hustle and bustle of one of India’s cultural hotspots including a half city tour in the morning and a personal driver in the afternoon to see attractions at leisure.

Guests will then transfer to Guwahati in India’s unspoilt state of Assam where they will board the MV Mahabaahu, ARC’s boutique and luxurious, 46-guest river ship, for a seven-night cruise on the Brahmaputra River. Among the highlights of the journey are visits to artisan markets, Indian cuisine, cooking demonstrations, daily yoga, performances by local singers and dances and a combination of elephant, jeep and boat safaris where guests can spot rhinos, elephants, tigers and buffaloes are. Included excursions will take guests to monasteries, plantations, ancient palaces, remote villages and an uninhabited island for a bonfire.

After the cruise, guests travel to Delhi before flying to the Sri Lankan capital of Colombo where they will join an 11-night escorted tour of the tropical island’s diverse landscapes and cultures. Highlights of the 11-night tour include wildlife safaris in Wilpattu and Udawalawe National Parks’ on the lookout for leopards and elephants, visiting Buddhist temples and monasteries in the sacred city of Anuradhapura, the striking mythical citadel of Lion Rock Fortress, watching a cultural show with traditional music and dance in Kandy and a behind-the-scenes look into how Ceylon tea is made on one of Sri Lanka’s many, traditional plantations.

After the tour, guests are transferred back to Colombo to return home to Australia.

Including a total of nine-nights’ hotel accommodation, three-nights’ camping accommodation, seven-night, all-inclusive river cruise, return flights from Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide or Perth, internal transfers and local flights in India and Sri Lanka, the 21-night package in March, 2019, is available from A$12,995 per person, twin-share, including the saving of $560 per person, and $19,935 for solo travellers, including a saving of $1060, if booked by January 31, 2019.
