Scandic To Open A Large International Hotel In Kødbyen – Strengthens Its Position As Denmark’s Largest Hotel Operator
Scandic Hotels, the largest hotel operator in the Nordic countries, will open yet another large international hotel in the spring of 2018.
The hotel, which will be located in the center of Copenhagen’s “meatpacking district” – Kødbyen – will be designed with the history and urban character of the area in mind and will provide a vibrant meeting place for both guests and Copenhageners alike.
With 370 rooms planned, the new large hotel in Kødbyen will be a welcome addition to Copenhagen’s hotel market. The hotel will encompass a total of close to 15,500 m2 with 1,900 m2 designated for meeting and restaurant facilities.
The design of the hotel will be characterized by the area’s past industrial history blended with today’s lively atmosphere and pulse. The meeting spaces will also showcase creative solutions and avant-garde design.
– The new hotel in Kødbyen will be a unique international hotel for Copenhageners and guests alike. We intend to highlight the unique history of the area and create a hotel that will be a powerful addition to what is now the city’s most expansive area, says Frank Fiskers, President & CEO of Scandic Hotels.
The property owner of the new hotel in Kødbyen is KLP Ejendomme.
Continued positive growth for hotel operations in Copenhagen
Scandic is the leading hotel operator in the Copenhagen area with 8 hotels and close to 1,800 hotel rooms, of which 75 percent of the rooms are located downtown. The number of hotel nights in Copenhagen is expected to increase by over 3 percent during the coming years, which is why the new hotel in Kødbyen will contribute to strengthening Scandic’s operations and profits going forward.
