Schneider Electric, the global specialist in energy management and automation, has supplied two 7kWh EVlink™ Wallbox charging solutions for the luxury One&Only resort at Wolgan Valley, in the Blue Mountains, for use with the resort’s onsite BMW electric vehicles.
Installed and serviced by Schneider Electric’s accredited partner, DESA, the charging stations were installed in two locations allowing guests to drive the BMW SUV X5 and i8 cars around the 7,000 acre resort grounds emission free. The solution offers a charging time of up to three hours, which is almost three times faster than a domestic socket outlet.
With no petrol stations located nearby, not only are the electric vehicles a convenient option, but also pertain to the resort’s ongoing commitment to a cleaner environment. Recertified as a carboNZero carbon neutral resort for the past seven years, the resort was originally built according to Ecologically Sustainable Design principles, including rainwater collection, domestic water recycling, heat exchange technology and solar panel usage.
“We are simply delighted to be partnering with Schneider Electric to offer our guests an added element of luxury and an unforgettable journey to and from Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley in the new BMWs,” commented James Wyndham, General Manager of Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley.
“Sustainability and eco-friendliness are at the heart of everything we do and the offering allows our guests to further minimise their carbon footprint”.
Schneider Electric plays a major role in the adoption of electric vehicles among the general public. For more than five years, the company has been working with the leaders of the car industry to offer environmentally friendly and easy-to-use charging solutions that keep electric vehicles ready to go.
Ben Green, Director of Smart Space for Schneider Electric, added, “It is a privilege to partner with the world’s first carbon-neutral certified resort, Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley, and further accelerate its sustainability efforts with the provision of Schneider Electric’s Electric Vehicle (EV) charging solutions. Sustainable development is a key trend in the tourism sector right now and we know that hotel guests are increasingly selecting getaway destinations with strong eco-friendly credentials. With the chance to take a ride in an EV during their stay and appreciate how smooth and simple it can be, we believe this will not only enhance how guests experience this beautiful Blue Mountains reserve, but also showcase the true potential of EVs here in Australia.”
