Schoolies’ booking spree points to biggest event yet!

Schoolies around Australia have gone on a record booking spree, setting the scene for 2018 being one of the biggest events yet.

Schoolies original and number one operator experienced a record 24 hours since 2018 accommodation officially went on sale Monday afternoon, with in excess of 5000 bookings taken.

Despite the event being more than 18 months away for current year 11s, the response was overwhelming with the site even crashing for several hours under the strain before being restored to full capacity early Monday evening.

CEO of, Matt Lloyd, said on current trends it was highly likely that 2018 would exceed the previous record of 33,000 Schoolies set in 2002

“It has been the most enthusiastic response in recent memory with 5000-plus bookings flooding in over the first 24 hours.

“We thought 2017 was going to set new benchmarks but it appears 2018 is going to be even bigger.

“In fact the rush for  rooms has sparked an interest amongst 2017 kids who have left it to the last minute to book accommodation, so we are seeing a spike there as well,’’ he said.

Mr Lloyd said improved entertainment, easy payment plans and a changing view of schoolies as a more sophisticated event was behind the growth.

“With a $100 deposit all it takes to lock in accommodation and no more to pay until the September they travel, Schoolies are getting more organised each year because they don’t want to miss out.

“The launch of new entertainment such as the Schoolies Nation Beach has been a significant milestone and a lot of work has gone into growing the event and making sure it stays relevant with the changing times.

“Schoolies are focussing less on excessive boozing and putting more emphasis on friendships, fun times and building memories.

“It’s a far cry from the last minute, wild getaway it had a reputation for in the early days,’’ Mr Lloyd said.
