Scoot, voted 2015 Best Low Cost Airline in Asia Pacific, added to the celebrations in marvellous Melbourne by launching non-stop service to its fourth Australian destination today.
Scoot flight TZ 022, a 787 Dreamliner, departed Singapore early this morning to Melbourne, widely regarded as one of the world’s most liveable cities. The addition of Melbourne brings the total number of Scoot destinations to 17 in eight countries and territories.
“Scoot has long received requests to fly to Melbourne, Australia’s sporting and cultural capital, so we’re delighted to finally be doing so,” said Campbell Wilson, Scoot CEO. “We’re even more pleased to be using a brand-new 787, part of the world’s first all Dreamliner fleet.”
“This means exceptional value, wonderful choices and service with Scootitude – not only for international guests flying to Melbourne to experience the city’s distinctive creative energy, amazing culinary indulgences and breathtaking scenery – but also guests from Melbourne flying to Scoot’s exciting destinations beyond Australia,” he added.
“The arrival of Scoot to Victoria is a real vote of confidence in our visitor economy and a big win for our state. It gives more visitors from our key Asian markets a chance to travel here for themselves and see we have the best of everything,” said the Honourable John Eren, Minister for Tourism and Major Events, Sport and Veterans in the State of Victoria.
One way fares from Melbourne to Singapore start from $209 economy (including all taxes), and Scoot Biz fares start from $499 inclusive of taxes, 30kg check-in baggage, and up to 15kg carry onboard bags, with a premium meal, priority check in and boarding.
Melbourne is a multicultural city flourishing with street art, artisanal boutiques, buzzing cafes and a cool bar scene – everything hip and hidden. Beyond the vibrant city, the Great Ocean Road snakes along one of the world’s most spectacular coastlines, while epic forests of Errinundra and the Snowy River yield to the high country’s stunning peaks that beckon the adventurous.
Scoot’s 787 Dreamliner fleet features a spacious cabin and modern conveniences such as inflight Internet and in-seat power throughout the aircraft. Fast-growing Scoot took delivery of two 787 Dreamliners in October alone, on its way to a fleet of 20.
Scoot will operate the route five times weekly, rising to daily during peak travel periods.
