VisitScotland has welcomed the announcement of a further forty-two new projects to this summer’s Glasgow 2014 Cultural Programme.

The new projects will join a bustling nationwide programme celebrating music, dance, comedy, theatre and art as Scotland prepares to welcome the world in the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Mike Cantlay, Chairman of VisitScotland, said: “What better way to showcase our vibrant, proud and culturally diverse nation than a packed programme of the very best of traditional and contemporary Scottish talent?

“Combine that with a celebration of culture from across the Commonwealth and I’m certain there will be something to cater for all tastes no matter where you are in Scotland.

“The Culture 2014 celebrations are sure to be the perfect accompaniment to the excitement and exhilaration of the Commonwealth Games, placing Glasgow and Scotland on the world stage like never before.

“I urge Scots to make the most of this unique opportunity and I hope it inspires visitors across the globe to come and discover more about what makes Scotland so special.”

Scotland is welcoming the world in 2014 with three momentous events: the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, the Ryder Cup at Gleneagles and the year-long Homecoming 2014 celebrations.
