Guests on Sea Princess’ world cruise have been treated to an Australia Day celebration in their honour by residents of the Irish town of Cobh.

Organised by Cobh Tourism, the Australia Day in Cobh event featured numerous Australian and Irish themed activities to welcome Princess Cruises’ Australian guests to the town during Sea Princess’ call last Tuesday (July 14). As well as tucker stalls and barbeques, shop window displays and traditional Irish music, celebrations featured a blessing of the bonnets ceremony on the quayside in memory of all Irish convict women transported to Australia.
Cobh Tourism hosted its first local Australia Day event in 2009 to mark the arrival of Dawn Princess during her round world cruise from Australia and the tradition has continued with every world cruise visit from our shores since. Planning is already underway for next year’s event on July 11 when Sea Princess returns to the town.
Sea Princess departed Sydney on May 22 for her 104-night round world cruise voyage and will return on September 4.
