Seatrade Cruise Global 2017 To Introduce First Safety & Security Symposium

 Seatrade Cruise Global announces a new addition in programming to the 2017 conference line-up 13-16 March 2017 at the Fort Lauderdale Broward County Convention Center.

The new Seatrade Cruise Global Safety & Security Symposium will debut at this year’s show serving as a focal point for specialized professionals as well as all conference attendees interested in learning about current and new developments in these critical fields. Beginning Tuesday 14 March, the symposium is a collaboration with Cruise Line International Association (CLIA) and the Florida Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA), featuring a series of platform presentations and moderated panel discussions exploring a variety of topics.

“The most influential leaders in the cruise industry have participated in Seatrade Cruise Global for over 30 years and we continue to provide innovative programming appealing to their interests,” shares Robyn Duda, Portfolio Director for Seatrade Cruise Global. “The Safety and Security Symposium is a continuation of our efforts to expand and provide cutting-edge content at Seatrade Cruise Global and we look forward to this new highly-anticipated series.”

The Safety and Security Symposium will take place in the Floridian Ballroom and include all related exhibitors, speakers and presentations in one dedicated space.  Symposium panel topics include the following:

  • New and Developing Access Control, Identification and Monitoring Technologies
  • Safety and Security Ashore – An Integrated System Protecting Passengers and Crew
  • The Future of Life Saving Appliances (LSA)
  • Fleet Support – FOCs and EOCs
  • Cybersecurity
  • Polar Cruising Safety

John Sifling, a 30-year veteran maritime professional will serve as chairperson of the three-day symposium. Currently Principal of Broad Reach Maritime LLC, Sifling is a retired Coast Guard Commander who has served in a variety of assignments including Commanding Officer of Marine Safety Office Juneau and Captain of the Port of Southeast Alaska. After retiring from the Coast Guard, he worked for eight years as Vice President, Fleet Security and Company Security Officer at Princess Cruises.

Press registration is open to journalists intending to report on the convention’s exhibition and conference sessions.  Journalists are asked to fill out the registration form and convention organizers will issue a complimentary pass once their credentials have been verified and approved. Attendees are able to customize their conference and trade show experience by choosing from packages that best suit their business needs.
