Second edition of Seychelles-India Day Celebrations will be launched this coming Friday

Count down for the Second edition of the Seychelles-India Day Celebrations is underway. The Seychelles-India Day Celebrations Committee presented their program of activities with a new vigour for this second edition.

The Committee announced that this second edition will take a new dimension geared towards social projects. In 2014 the committee will invest, as part of the Association’s Social Responsibility, considerable funds to upgrade the first floor of the Ministry of Health’s Yellow Roof building. Handing over of this block will be done on 3rd October, this will be the first activity to kick start Seychelles-India Day Celebrations 2014.unnamed (6)

Planned for 3rd -5th October, the spotlight of the Seychelles-India Day Celebrations will be the launch of its first ever Culture Ambassador Award. Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture will be given the honour of designating this award to Maestro llayaraja, India’s musical genius and only Indian music Director to work with the London Philharmonic Orchestra. This award will be given during the official launching of the second edition of Seychelles-India Day Celebrations on 3rd October. In a Press Conference to launch the countdown, Mr Ramu Pillay, a core Seychelles-India Day Celebrations Committee Member explained that the committee wanted this year to give a different approach to the festival, whilst maintaining its core objective which is bridging the Seychelles-Indo culture. He said the staging of a first ever Handicraft Fair on 3rd to 5th October will be an exciting journey of discovery of Indian products imported especially in the country for this event.

The entertainment aspect of Seychelles-India Day Celebrations is still on the agenda.  Thirteen International performing artists and dignitaries will be in Seychelles to bring the aura of Indian beats and rhythms to our shores.  Stephen Devassy- solid & band- flying fingers on keys, Manoj George, Violinist, Naresh Iyer, Singer, Sharmila and Sweta Mohan, playback singers, Abhay Jodhkurpar, Singer, Siddharth Mahadevan, singer, Minoti Parikh, Master of Ceremony, Savyo, DJ,  Chinni Prakash, Dance group and Kunal Kapur, Chef will grace their presence for this second edition of the Seychelles-India Day Celebrations. Mr Pillay said a Musical Concert and Gala Lunch at Constance Ephelia Resort planned on 5thOctober will encompass a wide variety of rich flavour food from five regions in India. Alain St.Ange, the Minister for Tourism and Culture said that the countdown of the Second Edition of Seychelles-India Day Celebrations is another great day in the cultural revolution of Seychelles.

’For us to better appreciate diversity of culture we must appreciate all our cultural origins’’ Minister St.Ange said.

Minister St.Ange went on to state that this event broadens cultural horizons of the Seychellois nation.

‘’ The Seychelles-India Day Celebrations program brings diversity of Culture, and it shows our people that the only way to understand who we are is to understand what took place outside our borders’’the Minister said.

The Second Edition of the Seychelles-India Day Celebrations will bring a taste of India Culture to Seychelles.
