Select set to take advantage

Agents at Select Travel Group’s 14th annual conference in Kuala Lumpur at the weekend were told they were fully equipped “to really take advantage of increased capacity and competition in the region.”

With over 350 independently-owned agency members, the Select Group is Australia’s largest Australia-Asia agency business in terms of number and volume. It is powered by Express Ticketing’s platform of Express Fares and Express Ticket and a host of optional support services.

CEO of the Select Group, Tom Manwaring told 130 delegates that Select’s Express Ticketing business-to-business platform was a sophisticated technological and marketing toolkit.

“It is elevating bottom line performance and productivity across Select members who have adapted to the modern era,“ he said. “With this system access they are fully equipped to really take advantage of increased capacity, competition and exclusive product in the region.”

“Exclusive Mandarin European brochures and product by Trafalgar Tours are an example of powerful segment based marketing that is an exciting development for the group,” he said.

Mr Manwaring stressed that Select was a membership service brand, as well as a customer recognition brand that will be further promoted in 2014/15, via Chinese press and radio, driving customers to the Select  co-branded stores..

The conference continued with the “Smarter, Faster, Stronger” slogan applied seven years ago. The presentations by Express Ticketing’s general managers Ari Magoutis and and Quynh Giang highlighted how members could work “Smarter Instore” and be “Faster to Market” resulting in a “Stronger Business”.

The KL conference, held at the Sheraton Imperial, recognised 2014 as “Visit Malaysia Year” and was supported by major sponsors Malaysian Airlines and Tourism Malaysia as well as another 30 airline and wholesale business partners..The conference awards dinner was sponsored for the 11th consecutive year by Sabre Pacific.

Other speakers were Duncan Bureau (Malaysia Airlines), David Morrison (Sabre), Jayson Westbury (AFTA), Matthew Cameron-Smith (Trafalgar Tours) and Allan Pease (“Mr. Body Language”).

Express Ticketing also powers the Independent Travel Group which services a membership of over 200 independent retail travel agencies, including the fast growing Italktravel franchise group.
