South Sea Cruises Ltd (SSC) has announced two key appointments to lead the opening team for Malamala Beach Club – Fiji’s first island beach club, set to open mid-2017 – with renowned chef Lance Seeto and Operations expert Rob Maivusaroko joining the team.

“To attract such high calibre talent is testament to the positive impression Malamala Beach Club is already creating within the market and we are extremely pleased to have both Lance and Rob on board,” said South Sea Cruises Ltd CEO Brad Rutherford.

Renowned culinary expert Lance Seeto joins as Executive Chef, focusing on delivering a unique gourmet offering for Malamala Beach Club guests.  He will also oversee food and beverage offerings across  the iconic Blue Lagoon Cruise experience and the family-friendly South Sea Island.

As an Executive Chef for a number of award winning island resorts, Lance Seeto is also the only culinary professional to be awarded Fiji’s top tourism culinary award two years in a row.

Born of Chinese heritage on the Melanesian islands of Papua New Guinea, Lance has swapped his fast paced Australian upbringing for the gentleness and clarity of a living ancient civilisation, who have embraced him as one of their own as evidenced by his dual citizenship. His deep understanding of Fiji’s history, produce and cooking techniques has evolved into a unique style of cuisine that includes Polynesian, Melanesian, Indian and Chinese influence.

“I am excited to bring Fiji’s unique cultural gastronomy and produce to the menu at Malamala Beach Club and create memorable gourmet experiences for guests across the South Sea Cruises portfolio,” says Seeto

“Malamala Beach Club will provide a much needed high-end venue to Fiji’s tourism landscape and I look forward to working with the team to deliver an exceptional product,’” says Maivusaroko.

Rob will commence immediately and Lance in early March, located in the South Sea Cruises’ Port Denarau office.
