SkyBus, operators of Melbourne’s CBD to airport Express transport service, has today launched its new ‘Seniors Discount’ fare so that older Victorians can travel to and from Melbourne Airport for less.
A one-way SkyBus ticket from Southern Cross Station or St Kilda to Melbourne Airport will cost seniors (Victorians aged 60+ holding a Seniors Card) just $16, a reduction of 16 per cent on a standard SkyBus fare.
Michael Sewards, Co-CEO and Director of SkyBus, said, “Whatever your reason for travelling, be it grandkids or the Great Barrier Reef, SkyBus has discounted its fares for seniors so that you’ll save 16 per cent every time you ride with us.”
SkyBus is already the most affordable airport transport service in Australia when measured by cost per kilometres travelled, so its new Seniors Discount fare makes the journey even more attractive for seniors.
“We know that retirees never rest, and every week hundreds of seniors from Victoria use our service to start their journey to somewhere exciting. We wanted to say thanks for sticking by us over the past 38 years of service, and give seniors a well-deserved discount,” added Adam Begg, Co-CEO and Director of SkyBus.
The Australian Bureau of Statistics projects that the number of Australians aged 65 years and over will increase more rapidly over the next decade. As Victoria’s population ages, the need for more affordable travel for seniors will become much more prevalent.
Seniors travelling on the new Seniors Discount fare to and from Melbourne Airport can still enjoy some of the much-loved SkyBus perks including free Wi-Fi, online ticket purchasing, smartphone ticketing access and the popular Kids Travel Free policy.
