Seoul Reaches Out To Europe

Seoul is having a busy month in Europe this November, giving international event organizers more opportunities to discover the strengths of the city’s meetings industry. The first was a Seoul dinner event in Brussels that coincided with this year’s UIA Associations Round Table Europe, followed by Seoul’s participation at ibtm world 2015 in Barcelona.

Held twice a year in Europe and Asia, UIA Associations Round Table gatherings provide international associations with opportunities to network as well as share experiences and knowledge on related issues. Seoul was host of UIA Associations Round Table Asia

in October 2014, and a Platinum Sponsor of this year’s Round Table Europe event in Brussels.


After the gathering, which took place on Friday November 13th, Seoul hosted a separate event, “An Evening with Seoul,” at the Crowne Plaza Brussels – Le Palace Hotel. The dinner was attended by 40 buyers from international societies and associations, and included a Seoul presentation and networking opportunities. Seoul MICE Alliance members Lotte Hotel & Resorts (Frankfurt office) and Kim’s Travel Service Co., Ltd. were also in attendance to explain more about Seoul’s meetings infrastructure and services.

This month, Seoul returned to ibtm world, one of the world’s biggest business events trade shows. Since Seoul’s first attendance in 2008, it has garnered increased interest within the European market. Running from November 17-19, this year’s event is expected to draw 3,925 buyers from 27 countries as well as 2,938 exhibitors, giving Seoul, as an active sponsor of ibtm world 2015, an opportunity to show Europe its strengths as a MICE destination.

The city’s promotional activities at the show include distributing Seoul-sponsored bags to attendees at the ibtm registration desk. Its slogan, “Seoul: Your Complete Convention City,” will also be displayed on tower banners and floor tiles. Through sponsorship on the event’s website, the public can explore the city’s services and support for international meetings via the Seoul Convention Bureau (SCB) official website at www.miceseoul.com.

Attendees can find Seoul and SCB staff at the Korea Tourism Organization stand (G60).
