July 9, 2013 Cruise No Comments Email Email

Cuba is changing so get in quick! The land of Castro, cigars and vintage Cadillacs is a fabulous place to visit.

An ideal way to see the island of Cuba is by ship. The American trade embargo makes it virtually CC-bassplayerimpossible to sail to Cuba directly from the USA, but another way has come up – a seven-night round-trip cruise around Cuba from Montego Bay, Jamaica.

A holiday from Worldwide Cruise Centres (worldwidecruiscentres.com.au) called ‘Cuba Chorus’ includes a cruise aboard the ship Louis Cristal, visiting Cuba’s prime places of interest, including the capital Havana.

‘Cuba Chorus’ also includes four nights accommodation at the Excalibur Hotel and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip, a two-night stay in Jamaica’s Montego Bay and two nights in Anaheim, home to Disneyland and Knott’s Berry Farm. Also included: flights from Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne or Adelaide to Las Vegas, on to Montego Bay and home again via Los Angeles.

‘Cuba Chorus’ costs from $4999 per person twin share and is valid at that rate until sold out. The 15-night holiday departs Australia on 7 February 2014 and returns on 25 February 2014.

From Australia you head to Las Vegas for a four-night stay at MGM Resorts’ renowned Excalibur Hotel and Casino, one of the best-known attractions on the Vegas Strip. Big-name shows, non-stop casino action, fine dining and much excitement – all are here, housed in a gigantic castle!

Next, jet to Montego Bay, Jamaica’s tourism capital and second-largest city, for two nights to explore the island from your base, the Holiday Inn SunSpree Resort. Set in tropical gardens and boasting its own 800-metre stretch of white-sand beach, the resort comes complete with a private island. Ride a horse along the beach, play a round of golf, explore a plantation or wander the shops CC-capitolio_havanaand enjoy.

From Montego Bay, board Louis Cristal, known for its yacht-like modern design. The ship provides elegant lounges and restaurants, disco, casino, internet corner and open promenades.

The cruise includes all meals aboard ship, daily entertainment program, evening entertainment and theme nights. An Open Bar Drinks program while cruising lets you sample award-winning wines and spirits, beer and bottled water, all served by the glass in bars aboard ship. Soft drinks, tea and coffee and a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails, all from the regular bar menu, are included.

Highlight visits of your seven-night Cuban cruise aboard Louis Cristal:

Cienfuegos, Cuba: View the Castillo de Jagua, a fortress built in 1745 for protection against the pirates of the Caribbean – long before Johnny Depp.

Trinidad, Cuba: In the province of Sancti Spiritus, central Cuba, this town with its cobblestone streets, together with the nearby Valle de los Ingenios, has been one of UNESCO’s World Heritage sites since 1988.

Punta Frances on the Isle of Youth, Cuba: Pine forests, orange blossoms and warm ocean breezes. A glorious beach of pure white sand surrounded by crystal clear warm waters – perfect for snorkelling.

Havana, Cuba: A whole day to explore one of the great historical cities of the New World, a melting pot of art, music, distinctive architecture, Spanish colonialism, Latin capitalism and rare modern communism. Departure at midnight.

Cayo Coco, Cuba. A stunning island perfect for a day of activity, sun, sand and exploration of lagoons and their wildlife.

Holguin, Cuba. Perhaps explore the isolated La Mensura National Park, hike the UNESCO biosphere of Cuchillas de Toa, or Guayabo waterfalls plunging 200 metres.

Santiago De Cuba. Capital of the Spanish colony of Cuba until 1589, Santiago is Cuba’s most important city outside Havana and famous for its music. As well as music, the cigar is a deep-rooted tradition in Santiago, as is the production of rum.

Your holiday isn’t over yet! Jet from Montego Bay to Los Angeles, for a two-night stay in Anaheim, home to Disneyland. You’ll find it quite a change from Cuba. Explore Anaheim or shop LA before flying back to Australia.
