Seychelles receives press coverage at the Beijing Tourism Expo

The Seychelles Tourism Board’s (STB’s) Chief Executive Officer had the opportunity to update potential Chinese travellers about Seychelles at a Press conference organized by the Beijing Tourism Expo (BITE) which took place from 20th to 22nd May 2016 where Seychelles also had a booth space to exhibit the destination. In a separate interview Ms Naiken were also able to make prime time on the Beijing TV evening news on the first night of the expo, Friday the 20th of May 2016.


The Beijing Tourism Expo is a very popular Tourism and Travel Exhibition in Beijing and are attended by tourism and travel professionals as well as tourism boards from all over the world. This year, the Seychelles Tourism Board was represented by its CEO, Sherin Naiken, Manager for the China Office, Jean Luc Lailam, Senior Marketing Executive, Stephanie Lablache, Senior Marketing Executive, Lee Huan Huan and E-marketing Executive, Corina Andre. The partners were Jettours and Ankeyunda both in support of Air Seychelles and its non-stop Beijing service. The Ambassador for Seychelles in the Peoples Republic of China, Vivianne Fock Tave and the First Secretary at the Embassy Mr Alex Henderson also joined for the openig ceremony of the expo.

The new direct non-stop service grabbed the attention of the different media present who were also enquiring on how Seychelles is preparing itself to welcome more travelers from China. Air Seychelles once weekly direct non-stop service from Beijing to Seychelles in addition with the existing airlines serving the destination namely; Emirates, Etihad Airways, Mihin Lanka, Ethiopian airlines and  Kenya Airways has given the chinese travelers a variety of traveling choices to fit their needs.

Now that our chinese visitors have the additional option of flying non-stop to our beautiful shores, this has opened the market to a wider range of potential clienteles that would not have considered the Seychelles previously.  The choices of routes available have now become more comprehensive and enticing for Seychelles as a holiday destination” said Ms Naiken.

Ms. Naiken went on to explain the several changes which have been implemented  to make our chinese visitors more comfortable such as, Chinese cuisine onboard the direct service to and from Beijing, the inflight entertainment and  Immigration/Airport documents available in Chinese both onboard and upon arrival in Seychelles amongst others.

In addition to the existing carriers, Qatar Airways which is already well established in the market, will make Seychelles even more accessible to our Chinese friends with the daily services starting in December 2016” said Ms. Naiken.
