Airports Council International-North America (ACI-NA), the foremost advocate for airport operators in North America, has awarded San Francisco International Airport (SFO) multiple first-place awards for its marketing and communication programs. In its annual award event, ACI-NA honored the SFO team with the top spot in the following categories:

  • Community Education and Outreach, for the development of a high school educational curriculum titled Sound Waves, about the ways that sound carries in and around an airport;
  • Newsletters, for the spring 2019 SFO Newsletter; and
  • Overall Public Relations Programs (Large Airports), for SFO’s program celebrating Lunar New Year

“We are so proud to be recognized by Airports Council International-North America for our marketing and communications efforts,” said Airport Director Ivar C. Satero. “We strive to deliver an exceptional airport experience, and our Marketing and Communications team play a vital role in this effort, with industry-leading programs that engage with our customers, our employees and our communities.”

SFO also earned honorable mentions in the “Annual Report” and “Video and Film Production” categories. The 2019 Excellence in Airport Marketing, Communications, and Customer Service Awards were announced on November 7, 2019, at a gala held during the ACI-NA 2019 Marketing and Communications Conference in Miami, Florida.

SFO was previously honored for marketing and communications by Airports Council International-North America in 2014 when it was awarded the “Peggy G. Hereford Award”, which is widely recognized throughout the airport world as the highest honor an airport can earn in the public and media relations field.
