Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong announces that Shang Palace has again been awarded two stars in the 2017 edition of the Michelin Guide for Hong Kong and Macau, making it the Chinese restaurant’s nineth year to receive the coveted star rating.
The rating is based on five criteria – the quality of products, value for money, mastery of flavour and cooking, the “personality” of the cuisine and consistency between visits. The Michelin two-star accolade denotes excellent cooking worthy of a detour.
Renowned for its Cantonese cuisine, Shang Palace delivers traditional and creative dishes that evoke the grandeur of traditional China, artistically prepared by Chef Mok Kit Keung and his team.

To be able to maintain this prestigious recognition, in a way reflecting our consistency in delivering high-standard quality, is an honour and a huge achievement for us. The restaurant’s signature dishes include Crispy Lobster with Oatmeal, Braised Spare Ribs with Chin kiang Vinegar, Oven-Baked Cod Fillet (Sustainable Glacier 51) with Egg White and Conpoy, Stewed Spotted Garoupa with Foie Gras and Black Garlic, Chilled Marinated Abalone with Chinese Wine and Sautéed Giant Crab with Spring Onion, Ginger and White Pepper with Vermicelli.

With a wealth of international culinary experience, Chef Mok spent almost two decades working at a number of prestigious establishments, international luxury hotels and convention centres in Singapore. Apart from that, he has been invited as a guest chef in various countries, such as Canada, Australia and France. Over the years, he has received numerous recognitions and culinary accolades with his creative dishes.
Chef Mok has also prepared meals for King Mohammed VI of Morocco, the president of Russia and many other prominent dignitaries and celebrities from around the globe. Infusing an artistic touch to the presentation of the dishes, his menus present a modern take and an upscale twist on traditional Cantonese cuisine.
Lavishly decorated in auspicious red and gold with traditional motifs imported from China, Shang Palace offers a range of dim sum, set lunch and à la carte menus for lunch from noon until 3 p.m., Monday to Friday, and from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays.
Offering a range of set dinner and à la carte menus to tempt the discerning palate, the restaurant opens daily for dinner from 6:30 to 11 p.m. A tea master and resident sommelier are on hand to guide diners through the extensive range of premium teas and wines, and to help them with pairing.
