First shot is the RIBS – a brand-new casual restaurant featuring ribs from all over the world and many more. The recently arrived Italian Chef Andrea drafted the menu and brings European, American and Atlantic cuisines to Guangzhou diners.

The restaurant manager, Bastien Ciocca, is also an experienced bartender who has created many unique cocktails exclusively for RIBS. His special recommendation is the signature Spanish drink – Sangria. Moreover, RIBS’ leisurely atmosphere, and decors and reasonable prices suit all social gathering needs.

The menu has eight major sections featuring ribs, small bites, soups and something from the deep ocean. There are also delicacies from the oven and mega bites. Dishes include the Carolina-Style USA Baby Pork Back Ribs, in which imported organic ribs are grilled in a traditional oven for six hours after marinating in a special sauce for four hours; Sexy Mongolian Lamb Ribs using secret spicy ingredients; The Most Exotic Gator Ribs served with a Citrus Trio and a Spice Combo; and more global selections of ribs.

Moreover, RIBS uses rare ingredients creatively, such as Beef Cheek, Flank Steak, Toro Tuna Steak and more. Other fantastic dish creations range from French Duck Liver to Beijing Duck Pizza. Guests can enjoy an international selection of Western cuisine, including Tasmanian Salmon, Mussel and Clam Pot, Lobster Bisque and more.

The restaurant manager, Bastien Ciocca, is a Swiss bartender genius who was fond of competing in international bartender contests while working at Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa, Penang. His passion for mixing cocktails inspires him to bring the Spanish classic Sangria to RIBS, a historical cocktail drink originally made with a mixture of wine and Spanish fruits.

The restaurant also offers a diverse range of stunning cocktails. The special cocktails mixed with bacon, in-house brewed ingredients and others will definitely impress guests. In addition, RIBS offers a limited edition of unexpected and hand-made cocktail offers.

RIBS is decorated in American and Italian style. The spacious restaurant, cement floor and vintage lamps contrast with the standard decors of a five-star hotel. The happenings in the open kitchen, the tasty smell from the ribs being cooked and more arouse the guests’ curiosity to discover and explore RIBS. The vintage newspaper-style menu is delivered to guests by a waitress wearing casual clothes. Enjoying the casual and humorous menu is one of the fun elements at RIBS, while ordering the delicious food selections.

Italian Executive Sous Chef Andrea Magnano has over 21 years of culinary experience gained across many countries. He has also opened his own restaurant in Italy. During his time in Australia, he has been invited to cook at the Parliament House in Melbourne for the Master of Australian Food and Wine event. In addition to his achievements, he was also invited to the Italian Culinary Summit of Hong Kong in 2010 and 2012. Chef Andrea believes that being “open minded” is the key element to being a chef when preparing world-class gourmet dishes. Crazy is the best word to describe the chef’s attitude towards cooking. Prior to his new role at Shangri-La Hotel, Guangzhou, he was the group executive Italian chef at Armani/Aqua and Armani/Privé in Hong Kong.
