Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel, Taipei Presents Classic To Modern Drinks During Exclusive “Bartender’s Week”

From October 20 to 24, 2015, five top mixologists around the world, including Aki Wang from Taiwan, Samuel Oliver Jeveons from England, Giancarlo Mancino from Italy, Shoki Sato from Japan and Kim Bongha from South Korea, will be the guest bartenders at Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel, Taipei’s Lobby Court (1F), Li Bai Lounge (6F) and Marco Polo Lounge (38F) to present exclusive cocktails inspired by the history of mixology, bringing flavors ranging from classic to modern to everyone.

From Classic to Modern

The hotel is honored to join hands with Taiwanese bartender Aki Wang, three-time world champion of mixology, to organize this amazing event and invite top international mixologists to present guests with unique flavors and give new inspiration to the local cocktail culture.

Originally inspired by the theme “From Classic to Modern,” these cocktail experts will showcase a cocktail spree as a salute to the world of mixology from generations to generations.

Talents from around the World

The world has already seen the talent of Wang, who has won three world championships, including the Global Revolve Challenge in 1998, International White Spirit Competition in 2000 and International Belvedere Luxury Cocktail Competition in 2007.  After gaining such honorable experiences, he returns home to introduce his beloved passion to more Taiwanese.  As the consultant of many five-star hotels and wine companies, as well as a well-known bartender, Aki Wang can be considered one of the most important figures in Taiwan’s bartending industry.

Mancino has worked at many luxury hotels and bars around the world, including the Shangri-La group, Four Seasons Hotel group, Starwood Hotels and other renowned hotel groups, for over the years.  His experience at top hotel brands has given his creations an atmosphere of natural elegance, making him a “celebrity bartender” in the industry.

Samuel Oliver is recognized as the legendary bartender of England.  For the past 10 years of his bartending career, he has supported his restaurants in winning many titles, including a Michelin star. “Guest can taste my confidence and pride in my cocktail,” said Oliver.

Sato has been practicing the trend of orthodox bartending.  With sophisticated and concise bartending skills, he has won many titles around the world, inspiring him all the more to mix the Oriental with Western cultures through his creations. Bongha is a renowned bartender who has published many bartending books and is the ambassador of Apart from keeping the ingredients’ original flavors, his cocktails also feature nutritional value, making his creations stand out from those of other bartenders.
