Shangri-La’s Sanya Resort & Spa, Hainan is the official host holds the 2019 FIA Formula E Championship, which will heat up Haitang Bay in Sanya on 23 March 2019 for round 6 of this year’s racing season. It is the first time the race is held in Sanya.
The 2019 Sanya E-Prix is the sixth instalment of the fifth season of Formula E. The event in Sanya is held on 22 and 23 March 2019. Twenty-two drivers and eleven teams will race on a 2.3-kilometre temporary track with 11 turns in Haitang Bay.
As the official hotel partner of the event, Shangri-La’s Sanya Resort & Spa, Hainan will see the new Gen2 cars battle it out on the tropical shores of the South China Sea. All drivers will race wheel-to-wheel against the backdrop of Haitang Bay.
To support this international event, the resort had 450 employees provide catering service to more than 3,000 VIP guests, including the pilots, the team members from 12 teams, the audience, media guests and 2,500 VIP guests in the EMOTION Club and Corporate Suite. Organisers from 47 countries worked day and night in the operation centre, setting up the resort function room to co-ordinate and lead the entire event.
To provide professional service and to support the success of the event, the resort’s food and beverage team started the preparation work four months ago – from the order list to equipment setup, from ingredient ordering to food tasting. After four food tastings, the Formula E organisers confirmed the final offer to the VIP guests. The culinary team prepared original Hainan dishes like Hele Crab, Dongshan Lamb and Wenchang Chicken in a Western way while featuring hundreds of local cuisine for guests from all over the world.
A specially prepared “Sanya Shang Journey” cocktail made with Hainan Baisha Green Tea was served to VIP guests in the EMOTION Club. The food and beverage team customised a Chinese buffet featuring Hainan Fo Tiao Qiang for the Asian guests in the Corporate Suite.
The successful catering service and support given to the entire Formula E Sanya Event again proved Shangri-La’s Sanya Resort & Spa, Hainan’s professional service and capability to hold large events. The resort has an outdoor lawn of over 9,600 square metres, a 1,500-square-metre column-less ballroom, 10 multifunction rooms, 496 comfortable guestrooms, suites and villas, modern facilities and a professional and agile service team providing thoughtful service and customised solutions for different guests.
